Applications now open: Certificate in PD Leadership

We’re delighted to launch the Steplab Certificate in Professional Development Leadership.

The Steplab Certificate in PD Leadership is a one-year programme for teachers and leaders leading - or preparing to lead - professional development in a school or trust. Previously known as the Certificate in Coaching Leadership (CCL), the programme has been refreshed with a broader focus on all aspects of effective professional development.

Now in its fifth year, the Steplab Certificate has supported over a thousand leaders in the UK, Australia and worldwide to dramatically improve professional development for their teachers.

So, what’s new - and what’s stayed the same?

We’ve refreshed the programme to better reflect the full scope of effective professional development:

• 1.
  A broader focus on all elements of effective professional development - solo study, drop-ins, coaching and group PD
• 2.
  A new introductory module grounded in evidence-informed teaching
• 3.
  An optional extension module for trust leaders, focused on leading change across multiple schools

We’ve also updated the name - moving from the Certificate in Coaching Leadership (CCL) to the Certificate in PD Leadership - to reflect this broader focus.

We’ve kept the elements participants loved about the programme:

• 1.
  A balance of in-person days (London or Birmingham), independent study, practical tasks and group calls
• 2.
  A focus on mastering key ideas and applying them in school
• 3.
  A blend of rigour and reasonableness - high standards, meaningful work and support to meet them
