Dr. Carl Hendrick works as a professor of Evidence-Informed Learning and Teaching at Academica, where he focuses on bridging the gap between research and practice. He was a secondary English teacher for 18 years in a range of different contexts and he completed his Ph.D. in education at King’s College London. He is a co-author of two best-selling and prize-winning books in education: How Learning Happens with Paul Kirschner and How Teaching Happens with Paul Kirschner and Jim Heal.
Professors Carl Hendrick and Jim Heal have recently released ‘How Teaching and Learning Happens’ a research-based online course that guides educators through cognitive science principles, instructional design, and strategies. The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical classroom applications, featuring instructional videos and downloadable resources that bridge the gap between educational research and teaching practice.
Josh Goodrich is the co-founder and CEO of Steplab. A former English teacher, Josh has worked as a senior leader in a number of London schools, as well as leading T&L across a multi-academy trust. He's the author of the best selling coaching book Responsive Coaching.
Sarah Cottinghatt is Research Lead at Steplab. A former English teacher, teacher educator and Associate Dean at Ambition Institute. Sarah has an MA in Educational Neuroscience and writes books for teachers and coaches, including Ausubel’s Meaningful Learning in Action.
Peps Mccrea is an award-winning teacher educator, designer and author. He is Director of Education at Steplab and author of the ultraconcise High Impact Teaching series. Peps has three Masters degrees, Fellowships from the Young Academy and University of Brighton, and lots of distracting tattoos.
